Publication Ethic
Prosiding Ilmu Lingkungan is a peer-reviewed proceeding published by Universitas Mulawarman, Samarinda, Indonesia. This proceeding is available in print and online and highly respects publication ethics, avoiding any type of plagiarism. This statement explains the ethical behavior of all parties involved in publishing an article in this proceeding, including the author, the editor-in-chief, the editorial board, the peer-reviewers, and the publisher (Universitas Mulawarman). This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Ethical Guideline for Publication
The publication of an article in Prosiding Ilmu Lingkungan is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles embody the scientific method. Therefore, standards of expected ethical behavior must be agreed upon by all parties involved: authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and society.
Universitas Mulawarman, as the publisher, takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing seriously. We ensure that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact on editorial decisions. The publisher and editorial board will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where necessary.
Publication Decisions

The editor is responsible for deciding which articles are published.

Decisions are guided by validation of the work, its importance to researchers and readers, and legal requirements (libel, copyright, plagiarism).

Editors may consult with reviewers or other editors in making decisions.
Fair Play

Manuscripts are evaluated for intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
Confidentiality

Editors and staff must not disclose information about submitted manuscripts except to authors, reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished information in manuscripts must not be used for personal research without written permission.

Editors will not accept manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.
Management of Unethical Behavior

Editors and publishers will take appropriate steps when ethical concerns arise.

Any unethical publishing activity will be prosecuted, even if discovered years after publication.

An Ethics Advisory Board with expertise in Intellectual Property supports this process.
Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer review assists editors and authors.

Promptness: Reviewers must notify editors if unable to review.

Confidentiality: Manuscripts must be treated as confidential.

Objectivity: Reviews should be constructive and evidence-based.

Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers must identify uncited relevant work.

Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must not use privileged information for personal advantage.
Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards: Authors must present accurate accounts of research.

Data Access and Retention: Authors should provide raw data when requested.

Originality and Plagiarism: Works must be original and properly cited.

Multiple Publications: Authors must not submit the same manuscript to multiple outlets.

Acknowledgement of Sources: Proper citation of influential work is required.

Authorship: Limited to those with significant contributions; all co-authors must approve submission.
